Come join us!  Whether you’re an experienced trail rider or new to horses or trail riding, if you’re looking for camaraderie with fellow horse enthusiasts, want to see new country, and ride in a safe and supportive environment, this is the riding club for you!

SYVR is open to all breeds and riding styles and stresses safe riding practices on all trail rides. Participants must follow the Trail Rules when participating in club-sponsored rides.

For Trail Rules:

Trail rides last from two to three hours over private ranches well-known in the County’s history, as well as in the Los Padres National Forest and California State and Santa Barbara County Parks such as La Purisima Mission and Live Oak Camp.  Riders typically meet at the ride location and for longer travel time, at central location and trailer their horses caravan-style to the trailhead.  Trail rides are typically scheduled monthly, with weekend campouts scheduled through the year.

For the Trail Ride Rating guide:

SYVR also participates in events such as clinics, training such as Horse Emergency Evacuation Expo and training with the Horse Emergency Evacuation Team (HEET) in SLO as well as trail maintenance.  Visit our Rides & Events page to participate, or to learn how to become more involved in activity planning or, to become a Board Member, please email us at: info@santaynezvalleyriders.org.

Membership & the SYVR Board 2022

The pandemic has hit us all hard and we need your help to get things back up and running. We need to increase our membership numbers and we need more Board members!

Recruit your family members and friends. Bring them to a trail ride.

Join the Board or a Board Committee - it's more fun if you're working with a friend!

If everyone would recruit just one other person we'll begin to pull out of this pandemic membership slump.

Can you do more? Yes? If you're interested in becoming more involved, below is just a sampling of opportunities the SYVR offers:

  • Board Member: The SYVR is governed by a five-member elected Executive Board of Directors (President, Vice-President, Past-President, Treasurer, and Secretary) and appointed members At-Large who collectively meet monthly on the third Thursday of the month. Board meetings are open to all members.

If you wish to be part of a great team, want to plan trail riders and events, and protect and conserve our area equestrian trails then plan to attend a meeting and get a taste of what it’s like to run this incredible organization! If you would like to attend, please send an email to info@santaynezvalleyriders.org for meeting time and location.

You're welcome to attend and explore if being a Board member is right for you. We offer a free dinner and dessert prior to getting down to Board business.

  • Our Committees work on specific issues and report to the Board:

  • Trail Committee: Know a great place to ride? Would you like to plan and lead SYVR trail rides? Are you passionate about saving and creating equestrian trails in our area? We’d welcome your talents as a Trail Boss and/or member of our Trail Committee. Please email info@santaynezvalleyriders.org to attend our Board meeting - monthly meeting location and meeting agenda will be provided.

  • Social Committee: Are you a party planning animal? The SYVR will return to scheduling at least one campout and one to two Member Meetings/Parties during the year. Come on out and help us create even more memorable events! Please email info@santaynezvalleyriders.org to attend our Board meeting - monthly meeting location and meeting agenda will be provided.
